What ingredients do you need for keto spicy fried chicken?

Before we roll out the list of ingredients needed to make keto spicy fried chicken, let’s quickly mention that the recipe we are about to share can make up to eight serves. And each serving comprises a piece of chicken.

Here are is the list of ingredients you will need to make this lovely keto chicken meal.

You will be needing:

  • Chicken (8 pieces of thighs or drumsticks of approximately 3 lbs or 1.4kg)
  • Cayenne pepper (2 teaspoons)
  • Garlic powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Onion powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Smoked paprika (2 teaspoons)
  • Salt (2 teaspoons)
  • Hot sauce (1/3 cup)
  • 2 Eggs 
  • A cup of water 
  • Unflavored protein powder (one and a half cups)
  • Coconut flour (1/2 cup)
  • Ground white pepper (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Oil (for deep frying)

How to make spicy keto fried chicken 

Step 1. Get a large clean bowl and place the chicken in it.

Step 2. Mix the garlic, onion, paprika, cayenne, salt, and hot sauce and pour into the chicken. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the chicken for 3 hours. However, refrigerating overnight will yield the best results. 

Step 3. Check to see if the chicken is marinated. If it is and you are ready to cook, you can proceed to preheat the deep fryer to 160 degrees Celsius or 320 Fahrenheit.

Step 4. While preheating the deep fryer, you can go ahead to prepare the egg wash. Whisk the eggs and set the water aside in a bowl. 

Step 5. Get another bowl and add protein powder, coconut powder (1/2 cup), paprika (1 teaspoon), garlic (1 teaspoon), salt (1 teaspoon), and pepper (1/2 teaspoon). Mix them well and lie into a tray or a plat. That should make it easier to coat the chicken.

Step 6. Use a clean towel to wipe excess marinade off the chicken.

Step 7. Take each piece of chicken and dip it into the egg wash you set aside earlier. Take out the chicken and let the egg wash drip off before coating it with the protein powder mixture you made. 

After generously coating the chicken, gently lower it into the hot oil. Now, repeat the process for the remaining pieces of chicken. 

Step 8. Allow the chicken to cook for between 16 to 18 minutes or when the internal temperature reaches 75 degrees Celsius or 165 Fahrenheit.

Step 9. When you are done cooking the entire chicken, you can go ahead and serve with your fave dipping sauce.
