HOW TO ENTER THE NEW YEAR WITH A BANG

 It was one helluva ride this year, and we’re grateful it’s finally over. Some of us lost loved ones in very tragic circumstances: some lost jobs, relationships, friends, and whatnot. On the flip side, some of us made happy memories, worked better to water and groom our relationships and friendships, spent time bonding, and when the lockdown came, many spent the time getting to know themselves better.

Even with the highs and lows of this ending year, we know that you damn right should make lemonades when life gives you lemons.

And so we’re making lemonades for the next year by entering the New Year with a bang! We’re leaving behind every negative event of 2020 and moving into 2021 with our cherished memories and a positive, happy and enlightened mindset.

Sit tight as we take a tour through the ways to kick-start the New Year with 

FORGIVE AND LET GO

This may be easier said than done, especially with deep hurts and betrayals. But for you to start off the new year with a happy baggage-free mindset, you need to let go of all the pains, hurts, and betrayals that came with this year and move on to the possibility of having happier memories. Forgiving people their wrongs and deciding not to stay angry will give you peace and prevent you from harboring bitterness. 

SET YOUR NEW YEAR GOALS AND DECIDE TO REACH THEM

New Year resolutions are a thing – yes, thank you – and people do really fulfil their resolutions. You can too. Are there goals you set to meet this year but couldn’t? You could move them into the New Year and try again (it just might be your lucky year).

Do you plan to start giving to charity? Take on volunteer jobs, a cooking class, or join a yoga class? Do you want to be more animal conscious and turn vegan? Or work towards learning the basics of makeup? How about evaluate the clutter in your life and adopt a minimalist lifestyle instead? All these and more are terrific goals that you can work towards achieving.  

DROP A LIFESTYLE HABIT NOT GOOD FOR YOU

Trying so hard to quit smoking, drinking, always comparing yourself with others, unhealthy competitive nature and other habits you know you are not proud of? Now is the time to get started on it. Entering the New Year while actively working on calling it quits with any addictive or bad habit that you may have, is a great way to start off the year. It may not be easy but hey, look on the bright side, you’re working on getting a healthier, better and happier version of yourself and that’s a big win for you.

END THE YEAR WITH A GOOD BOOK

Non-book lovers may see this as a chore, but it won’t hurt to enter the New Year with new knowledge on something. There’s a myriad of good reads touching on various topics from romance, self-help, psychology, travel to economics, politics, religion and more. This will motivate you to see the relaxing and therapeutic qualities of reading, and you may also learn something new that may come in handy down the road.

If you’re new to the readers club, start exciting and straightforward like a fiction on any theme everybody has read or the autobiography of a famous person in the society.

CONSIDER SUSTAINABLE AND GREEN OPTIONS

Our world, as we know it, is degenerating and needs our help. With Global warming and excess environmental pollution, we see species going extinct and the environment becoming more unsafe for habitation. As an act of humanity, you may adopt a greener, eco-friendly lifestyle by making choices that will accommodate sustainability. For instance, you can shift to using more vegan, organic skin caring and makeup products, buy more reusable goods(recycle and Upcycle) like reusable drinking bottles, turning off the faucets when not in use to conserve water, and many more.

TAKE AWAY

When the New Year finally comes, we suggest you live it one day at a time. Take that road trip, travel and see the world, get that new haircut, upgrade your style, go back to college, mend things with your mom or do whatever fun and positive thing you have always wanted to do. And watch you check every box off your “new year to-do list.”
