For many people, 2020 may be the longest year they’ve ever experienced, the first two and a half months or so looked normal, then March came… From that point on the world we live in has been quite unusual, throwing several twists and turns our way, many of which we have never experienced before (and hopefully won’t have to again). However, with the holidays in full swing, brighter times are upon us and so is a fresh start with the new year. With 2021 on the horizon, it’s best to look ahead and be optimistic about what’s in store for yourself. Take this opportunity to set yourself up for the next 12 months and leave 2020 in the past, like a chapter in a book you had to read but didn’t enjoy. From self-care to loving your home and exercise, there’s no reason 2021 can’t be everything you had hoped 2020 to be, but better…
Focus on Self-Care
Following the year we just had, odds are you spent a lot of time helping others, checking in on loved ones, and offering a hand wherever you could. While all of that is great and makes you a great friend, you likely didn’t focus on yourself as much as you may have liked. The good news for you, though, is that the new year is a great time to focus on yourself and make sure you’re feeling your best. Prioritize yourself by implementing a mini self-care routine (our favorite is #3) each day, big or small. From sleeping in, having a dance party, and even planning your meals for the week, each little step you take for yourself will leave you feeling confident and rejuvenated for whatever tasks come ahead.
Love Your Home
Though you’re entering 2021 with a fresh mindset, many themes from 2020 are likely to stay, such as working from home and spending more time inside than may be usual. With that being the case, be sure you love where you live and have your rooms designed just to your liking. When it comes to designing your home, staying up to date on the latest design trends for 2021 will not only make the process fun and exciting but will also be a talking point for your guests when they see something new and fresh. A few common bottlenecks when it comes to designing your home are working around spaces without great natural flow or searching for solutions to small living rooms. Keep in mind, whether you’re picking out a comfortable living room couch or finding the perfect wallpaper or kitchen backsplash pattern, home design can be a fun and extremely customizable experience.
Feel Like Your Best Self
For the new year, many people will set lofty goals that are often well-intended, but sometimes difficult to maintain. One of which is getting healthy and working out more often to reap the numerous health benefits associated with it. For exercise, be sure to set realistic goals that slowly get harder as the months go on to stay motivated and find long-term success. When it comes to nutrition, one size does not fit all, just like anything else. Experiment a bit to find what type of sustainable diet works best for you. Just like your self-care routine, a healthy workout and eating routine can lead to a more productive and positive state of mind. Balancing everything you have going day-to-day can lead to stress, but working in small routines can be just the escape you need to refresh.
With only a little time left of 2020, take these last few days to set yourself up for success in the new year by creating some goals and making a plan. Outline a daily self-care routine, redesign that living room, and commit to being a healthier you. 2021 is full of possibilities and potential, go into it with a plan and open mind and make it the best you can!
