Wrist Tattoos: 13 Things You Should know Before You Get Your First Wrist Tattoo

Tattoos are probably the best thing you can do to your body if you are a sincere art lover. It always fascinated me to see a tattooed woman.

These wrist tattoos especially attract me. They are so small, well positioned, and beautiful.

I haven’t had the opportunity to get a tattoo. My parents are the ones to blame for that. They didn’t let me get a wrist tattoo when I was a teenager.

Maybe they were right because I didn’t know the exact meaning of a body art back in the days.

When I was a teenager, getting a tattoo meant vandalism and all the worst things that you can think of right at this moment.

Now, it’s something different.

I might consider making one now. That’s why I did a research about some things I need to know before getting a tattoo.

The reason why I’m sharing this with you is to help some of you that are sharing the same opinion with me. We are all “illiterate” when it comes to trying something new.

And of course, I seek help from you guys. I want those who already have a tattoo to share their experience with me and the others.

So, first wrist tattoo? – Here are some things you need to be aware off.

If you are not sure about getting a wrist tattoo, don’t go!

Tattoos are one of those painful pleasures you are going to experience in your life. However, they are also expensive and permanent.

If you have even the slightest doubt about getting a tattoo, wait. Just wait until you are going to be sure about what you are going to do.

You don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you need to remove the tattoo. Keep in mind that tattoo removal is painful, expensive, and not 100% efficient.

Licensed Tattoo Artist

The second thing should’ve been placement, but we already know that we are getting a wrist tattoo.

With that out of our system, it’s time to search for a licensed tattoo artist. It’s crucial. The process has its dangers because it involves needles that can cause numerous infections.

If they are old and already used on another person, of course.

Make sure you see the artist remove the needles from a sterile single-use package before he/she starts tattooing you.

Licensed and experienced tattoo artists follow these routines. That’s why it’s important for you to contact licensed tattoo artist.

Spend some time doing research for these artists. You don’t want your wrist tattoo to look like it has been done as a two-year-old.

Understand Your Art

The body art needs to be beautiful and with an actual meaning for yourself. It doesn’t need to make sense for the others. You are the carrier.

Chinese letters or Hebrew language are very popular among the people. My opinion is if you don’t speak the language, don’t put it as a tattoo.

Sometimes the interpretation could go out of context. You can’t control what others think and say about it. However, you can control what it is.

Make sure you understand everything about the ink and the background story checks out.

Be Patient and Collaborative

Getting a tattoo is not “just another day in the office” for you and the tattoo artist.

Most of the professionals insist on a consultation before they start needling you. If they skip this part, you need to be the one who is going to push this to happen.

Be patient and try to get more information about the person on the other side of your eyes. See if it clicks. Discuss the art, best place for the tattoo you want, his execution methods, and how much it will take.

Don’t ask whether it will hurt or not. Be prepared that it will.

Hygiene

Be extremely careful about it. Inspect the area where you are going to be tattooed. It needs to be clean and sterile. The tattoo artist should wash his hands properly with a sanitizer and wear sterile gloves.

Maybe this sound like stupid requests, but you better be protected than catch an infection that will mess up with your health.

No Alcohol, No Drugs

Avoid alcohol by any means the night before you are getting the wrist tattoo. If you didn’t know, the alcohol makes the blood thinner. It increases the volume of blood that comes out while you are getting inked.

Using drugs, like aspirin or pain killers, won’t do the trick. They are strongly prohibited.

Yes, It will Hurt

Tattooing hurts. It depends on placement, size, complexity and how much pain you can “survive”.

Tattoos places over tendons, bones, body parts with a little padding, and anywhere with nerve endings are the most painful.

The wrist is a sensitive area for a tattoo, but this doesn’t mean that you need to quit your desire.

You are going to feel pain, but after a while, you are going to get used to it.

Care About it

Getting wrist tattoos is awesome, but there are certain things you need to do after the completed process.

Avoid tight clothing. Wear something that will make you feel comfortable. Prevent the clothes from rubbing against the tattoo.

Use the ointment your tattoo artist gave you and wash it twice a day.

Prevent chemicals and dirt to touch the symbol. Don’t expose it directly to the sunlight.

This makes winter the best season for getting tattoos.

I know you are a little bit scared now, but remember this, all people love their tattoos. I haven’t met anyone who says that getting a wrist tattoo was a bad experience.

Maybe certain things will change your mind, but you need to know them, right?

Don’t forget to use the sharing buttons below and share this with all of your friends.

  1. I thought this article was about getting a wrist tattoo. I already have 3 tattoos and am planning a wrist one for my fifth but I was looking to see what people who have one say about them any tips. But this article seems to be about people who’ve never gotten a tattoo before.
I’m mainly unsure about the arteries worried about them possibly busting open tho I guess that doesn’t actually happen. I just was looking for an article that assured me. But I guess this wasn’t it.
