Whiskey Highball
A "highball" is a cocktail defined by its mixture of a specific type of alcohol with a larger proportion of carbonated water or soda. Cocktails like gin and tonic, vodka soda, and rum and coke meet this criteria, but only Scotch and soda and similar whiskey-based drinks are explicitly categorized as highballs. These cocktails have a smoky and bold spirit flavor, which is nicely complemented by the bubbly mixer. If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can opt for ginger ale, or you can strike a balance by using equal parts of both soda and ginger ale.
Instructions
- Fill a highball glass or any tall glass about 75% full with ice. Pour in the Scotch, then gradually add the soda while stirring until well mixed. Garnish with a lemon wedge and serve.
