Shoulder Pain – Home Remedies [Infographic]

Shoulder pain doesn’t necessarily need a doctor appointment. In most cases, you can cure at home, without the intervention of a specialist. Here are some things you can do at home and will bring you shoulder pain relief.

Cold compresses. The advantage of this method is that you don’t have to buy anything – you can just use whatever you have frozen in your fridge. Wrap it in a towel and put it on your hurting shoulder for a few minutes. You can do it a few times a day, as it helps in reducing the swelling.

Warm compresses. To create a warm compress, you can use a wet, hot towel. Use this method after the swelling is gone – it helps in reducing the stiffness. You can use it after you stop using the cold compresses.

Salt bath. Add a  little bit of bath salt to the water while taking a bath. It will work in the same way as a warm compress, releasing the tension and stiffness of the muscles in your shoulder.

Medications. When using pain killers, remember not to take too much as they can cause you a stomach ache, for example. Some of them have side effects. If you are not sure that you want to take them, try pain-relief gels and creams available on the market.

Shoulder pain exercises. Adding a little bit of stretch into your everyday routine might be really helpful in realising the tension from your shoulder. If you feel like the at-home exercises are not enough for you, you can buy some physical therapy equipment.
