With all the information we can find on the Internet, it’s tough for us to see what’s healthy or not.
Sometimes you are becoming misdirected of so many news and info about certain foods.
You have probably heard someone say that this food is healthy no matter what other people tell you.
It’s not quite like that.
To make sure about the ingredient you want to take, you have to read and see all of its benefits and possible side effects.
I want to make these things very simple for you, my friend.
First of all, I’m sorry about all those who will see their favorite “healthy” food listed as unhealthy right here.
You can’t avoid the truth.
I will give you 20 simple swaps that are healthier and definitely more nutritious than the food you’ve been eating so far.
Don’t ask me to pick a favorite from this list.
It’s really tough!
Let’s dig in!
“Healthy” Food #1 – Pasta (Healthy Swap – Spaghetti Squash)
Eating Spaghetti Squash is a nice meal that will satisfy your hunger without adding tons of calories.
Each cup of nicely cooked squash has approximately 42 calories.
That’s just 2% of your daily calorie intake (if you are maintaining 1,500 calorie diet).
Replacing pasta with this tasty and healthy substitute will save you up to 180 calories.
You do the math.
That’s not all.
There are other benefits closely attached to this.
One cup of cooked spaghetti squash contains almost 10 grams of carbohydrates and 2.2 grams of fiber.
On top of this, it’s rich with vitamins (A, B, C, E and K).
They are a great source of essential minerals like zinc, calcium, copper, selenium and manganese.
See the benefits?
“Healthy” Food #2 – Skim Milk (Healthy Swap – Coconut, Almond or Hemp Milk)
The fat is removed from the skim milk. There is no question about it.
However, it’s still rich with synthetic vitamins in order to replace those that are lost during the fat-removal process.
One cup of skim milk is equal to 90 calories and 12 grams of sugar.
It’s not a lot, but there are great natural substitutes that are more beneficial and will give you healthier results.
By consuming unsweetened almond, hemp or coconut milk, you will cut the calories in half.
Also, they do not contain some unhealthy and processed additives found in almost every dairy milk.
“Healthy” Food #3 – Soy Sauce (Healthy Swap – Coconut Aminos)
When I talked about false facts, I meant soy.
Many people talk about the benefits of soy and believe it’s really healthy.
On the other hand, unfermented soy is a proven hormone disruptor (estrogen mimicker).
I’ve seen doctors tell people to avoid soy if they have some sort of an autoimmune disease or an endocrine system imbalance.
Soy has negative effects on the body.
It’s not important how delicious the meal is with some soy sauce, you can always opt for coconut aminos.
Instead of me telling you about the benefits and the way of using coconut oil, here is a picture that will give you a better explanation.
“Healthy” Food #4 – Agave Nectar or Refined Sugar (Healthy Swap – Honey)
You won’t believe this.
The agave nectar, found in every healthy food stores, contains up to 80% fructose.
This is more than what’s found in high-fructose corn syrup.
You know what’s the best natural sweetener for you?
It has antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties.
It’s a powerful antioxidant and promotes improvement in the digestive and body health.
Raw honey is recognizable as a powerful antioxidant and strengthens the immune system.
Here is the other part of its beauty benefits:
“Healthy” Food #5 – Energy or Sport Drinks (Healthy Swap – Coconut Water)
It’s not important how the energy drink companies advertise their product… these drinks are not healthy.
Maybe they will say the drink has been made with natural ingredients and the process is very healthy for your body, but trust me, it’s not quite like that.
They are energy boosters all right, but what’s in there that increases your energy?
When you replace these energy drinks with something that’s truly natural and healthy, you will feel all the benefits.
Coconut water is a natural drink that “hides” the same benefits of the formulated sports drinks.
It contains electrolytes calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and sodium.
All in their NATURAL forms!
“Healthy” Food #6 – Any Type (Name) of Sugar (Healthy Swap – Cinnamon)
How many times have you entered a discussion about the “brown” sugar or the “raw” sugar?
It’s not important how many times I’ve tried to tell my friends that the brown sugar is just white sugar with brown color, they won’t listen.
They are using it anyway and then wonder why they gain weight constantly.
I’m not a fool for using cinnamon as a substitute.
Maybe I don’t get the same sweet taste like when i am using sugar, but I’ll still pick cinnamon and enjoy its benefits.
If you don’t trust me, here is a chart that will help you understand:
On the other hand, cinnamon is full with amazing benefits for you body and health.
The Ceylon cinnamon is the real cinnamon and you would want to look for it when shopping.
With its substances and antioxidants, it will have nothing but positive effects on your metabolism.
The anti-inflammatory properties in cinnamon help you lower the risk of illness and diseases.
Here is a picture of how to use cinnamon sticks properly.
“Healthy” Food #7 – Canola Oil (Healthy Swap – Coconut Oil)
Canola oil is made from rapeseed.
It is also known as one of the highest GMO crops.
Using canola oil when you are cooking your amazing healthy food is a big mistake.
But… if you use coconut oil, everything is better!
This super food packs up powerful punch of nutrients.
You can even cook with it without the fear that your food will become rancid on high temperatures.
As a matter of fact, coconut oil helps you burn more fat and increase your energy expenditure by 5%.
If you want something that’s anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, opt for coconut oil.
It’s great for your immunity, brain health and lowers the risk of heart disease.
“Healthy” Food #8 – Milk Chocolate (Healthy Swap – Dark Chocolate)
Can you believe some people that say milk chocolate is healthy?
I truly can’t.
Yes, some of them can have high protein level, but did you pay any attention to the sugar level?
The dark chocolate is a healthier choice.
It contains over 75% cacao and it’s actually good for you.
High quality dark chocolate contains iron, fiber, copper, magnesium, manganese and other minerals.
The dark chocolate is a disease protector because of its antioxidants.
Some nutritionists say it’s even great for your brain.
“Healthy” Food #9 – Healthy Snack Bar (Healthy Swap – Raw Almonds)
Isn’t it obvious?
Most of the healthy snack bars you will find in the healthy stores are full with sugar.
They hide behind the name “natural sweeteners”.
There isn’t anything better than a healthy snack of raw almonds.
You just need a handful of them to satisfy your hunger for a snack.
Here is the ultimate guide to nuts:
“Healthy” Food #10 – White Rice (Healthy Swap – Cauliflower Rice)
This vegetable is tightly linked with cancer prevention due to its high nutritive support to three body systems.
These body systems are related to cancer:

Imbalances to any of these systems increases the risk for cancer.
One awesome veggie to rule them all!
