Luxury 100 Thread Count Bedsheets

We’ve written before about achieving the luxury hotel look at home. Capturing the feeling of a relaxing getaway to some far-off destination in the comfort of your own home is a wonderful sensation. The quickest way to achieve that luxury look — and feel — is with the right bedsheets.

There’s something uniquely relaxing about luxury hotel beds. Partly it’s the mattress, or the ambience, or the location. But a good deal of it has to do with the comfortable and stylish bedding that’s used. At Manchester Collection, we pride ourselves in bringing that style and comfort straight to your bedroom.

Choosing the Right Feel: Cotton or Linen?

You spend a good third of your life sleeping; it’s in your best interest to do it in comfort! We offer two fabrics for our luxury bedsheets; 100% cotton and 100% linen. Nothing less will suffice when trying to create the luxury feel in your bed.

Both 100% cotton and 100% linen share many features. For example, they’re both hypoallergenic. Both fabrics have antibacterial properties and breathe well.

Their biggest differences actually lie in the unique properties of the fibres that they’re made from. Linen is made from flax, while cotton is made from, well, cotton. The flax plant produces fibres that are much tougher and more durable than cotton fibres. This means that your linen sheets are about twice as strong and durable as your cotton sheets.

Of course, this extra toughness comes at a price, literally. The fabric is actually more likely to break while being woven. Once it’s woven, it’s durable and hardy — but until then, it’s more laborious work. This is one of the reasons the cost of linen is higher.

Cotton has great insulating properties, but linen is slightly better for warmer climates like we get in Australia. Cotton is much easier to keep wrinkle-free, however, and what it lacks in durability it makes up for in comfort.

Choosing the Luxury Style

We’ve made this part incredibly easy: all of our 1000 count luxury bedsheets are stylish!

At Manchester Collection, we offer Hoteluxe 100 TC bedsheets. These are all designed in a bold yet minimalist style, with different colour combinations to suit your needs.

By keeping the styling on the sheets bold and simple, they’re more adaptable. They won’t clash with other design elements in the room, and can be used in almost any bedroom design.

Crisp white with black detailing is chameleonic neutral that will be at home most anywhere. Or maybe add a subtle hint of colour with a navy detailing to subtly offset the pure black.

For a less bold, but no less stylish look, a more subtle mocha colouring is just what you’re after.

Caring For Your Luxury Sheets

To maintain that luxury feel, you’ll need to keep your sheets nice and clean.

A recent study weighed up all of the sweat, makeup and bacteria that turn your bed into a home. To keep these elements from turning into breeding grounds of unwanted bugs, you need to wash your sheets preferably once a week. At most, you’re looking at needing to wash your sheets once every two weeks.

Weekly washing seems to be the habit across Australia, but researches have found many people don’t wash their sheets for up to a month — or more. The longer your sheets go without washing, the more they’ll stain and lose the qualities that make them so luxurious to lie in.

Cotton sheets are less susceptible to wrinkling. However, as they’re a less durable fibre, you’ll want to have a couple of sheet sets to keep them in rotation.

Linen will require more rigid ironing routines, but will stand up to frequent washing more readily.

All sheet sets from Manchester Collection come with clear care instructions to help you get the most of your sheet sets.
