Low-Alcohol French 75
This innovative twist on the classic French 75 cocktail departs from the traditional gin or cognac base, opting instead for the inclusion of blanc vermouth, which lends a sweetly herbal profile and lower alcohol content. Serving it over ice in a Collins glass pays homage to the early days of French 75, where this approach allowed the drink to evolve and mellow as you savor it. Alternatively, you can present it in a Nick and Nora or coupe glass for a more refined experience.
Instructions
- In a shaker filled with ice, combine the vermouth, shrub, and lemon juice. Cover and vigorously shake until thoroughly chilled. If you prefer it on the rocks, fill a Collins glass with ice and strain the cocktail into it. If you opt for a neater presentation, strain it into a Nick and Nora or coupe glass. Finish by topping it off with Champagne and garnishing with a twist of lemon.
