I tried CBD Skin Care products for 7 days – worth the hype?

Five years ago, no one had heard of CBD. However, over the past few years, the interest in CBD has grown almost exponentially.

CBD is a compound found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. However, unlike THC it has no psychoactive effects and will not get you high.

The most popular forms of CBD include tinctures, tablets and CBD Vape Juice. This year the beauty industry is poised to cash in on the compound and many brands are now putting CBD in face creams, soaps and even make-up.

There is actually some scientific research that suggests CBD can be good for the skin. This is because it discourages abnormal cell growth, helps regulate the skin’s oil production and reduces acne. CBD also contains many nutrients like vitamin E that help improve and protect the skin.

Naturally, I’m cynical; it seems that the beauty industry has a new miracle compound every couple of years. A few years ago it was shea and before that it was aloe-vera.

So, in the name of science, I am going to swap my usual skin-care products for CBD products over seven days and see if it has a positive effect on my skin

My experiment.

My skin is prone to dryness and violent acne, especially when I’m stressed or overworked. Unfortunately, my job means that I’m in an almost permanent state of stress and tiredness. As a result, my skin requires an almost militant skin care routine. Any deviation from my ritual and I’m at risk of a breakout.

I start each day with a moisturising face wash in the shower. Next, I lock in the moisture from showering with a non-oily moisturizing oil. Finally, before bed each night I use a skin mask to help revitalise my skin after its exposure to the outside elements.

Over the next 7 days, I am going to swap these 3 products in my skincare routine for the following :

Ambience CBD Shower Gel – Ambience CBD is a nourishing shower gel, packed full of CBD that claims to hydrate your skin and leave you feeling energized.
Revolution SKin Nourishing Oil – this moisturizer has been specially tailored calm skin prone to dryness due to its CBD and natural fatty acids
Bebo therapies CBD Skin Mask – calm the skin while supporting skin cell renewal, moisturization, brightening, and toning

Ambience CBD Shower Gel

The first part of my daily skincare routine is my shower; it’s important for me to use a shower gel that hydrates the skin.

Even the mildest shower gels will wash away moisture from your skin, so a good gel needs to add moisture as well.

Thankfully the Ambience CBD Shower Gel does not disappoint. The creamy gel works into a bubbly, foamy lather with just a small amount of water.

Furthermore, it smells delicious too. It has a light and herbal aroma that kind of reminds me of an aromatherapy session

It left my skin smoother than usual however, I can’t guarantee this is because of the CBD – it may just be a great shower gel!

Revolution Skin Nourishing Oil

After I climb out of the shower it is a race against time to apply a moisturizer that will lock in hydration from the shower. I expect a decent oil to last me the course of an entire day.

In the past, I have found it really difficult to find an oil that will moisturize without leaving my skin greasy.

My first impression with Revolution Skin Nourishing Oil was that it was a bit thin. I didn’t think its moisture would last more than a few hours. However, despite being rather lightweight my face did not appear to be dry all day.

It’s thinness actually turned out to be an advantage it acts as an almost perfect primer and sits well between your skin and a layer of make-up.

Bebotherapy Skin Mask

The final part of my skin care routine takes place just before bed. After I remove my make up and cleanse my pores I apply a night skin mask.

I had high hopes for the Bebotherapy skin mask due to its price.

It is fairly easy to use – you just apply the skin mask to your face, massage in the excess liquid and then leave the mask on for 30 mins.

The results were impressive. Almost immediately after removing the mask I noticed my skin was less red than usual.

Upon waking the next morning it was still soft and dewy

Conclusion

I’m actually rather impressed with the three CBD products I purchased. After 7 days of implementing it into my routine, I can say that my skin has not felt and looked better in some time.

However, I’m not sure if that was because I was using better quality products than usual or if it is was the CBD that was working miracles.

Until we have better research from the scientific community, I’d suggest just using the products that work for your own individual routine.
