How to Clean Your Eye Makeup Products | 5 Tips

From mascara to eye shadow, eye makeup products can add the needed flair you are looking for to enhance your beauty. But you must always keep them clean and maintain a hygiene regimen. Here are five ways to clean your eye makeup products.

Eyelash extensions

Commence cleaning your extensions only after it has been cured for at least two days. Below is the process involved in maintaining your lash extensions. Before you start the cleaning process, it is very important to get rid of all your makeup. Remove the eye makeup by applying oil-free removers using a damp cotton tip.

Now that you have eye makeup out of the way, it is time to get rid of the foundation. Use a cleanser without oil to remove the foundation. Proceed and wash your lashes. Apply a small amount of shampoo to wash your eyelash extensions thoroughly. Lilac St., Lyon and Zada USA offer lash shampoo that is tear-free and does not sting even if it gets into your eyes.

After applying the shampoo, gently clean it off in water using a brush. Tap-dry with either a face towel or tissue paper as it is kinder that way. Avoid rubbing because some extensions may come off. Then use a mascara wand to curl it up so that it stays that way when it dries up. Or air-dry them if you are too worried about wrecking them.

Thick eyebrows

If you have thick eyebrows, it can be a chore to clean them up every evening. Well, with this method, you do not have to stress too much about it. We give you step-by-step instructions about how to clean your thick eyebrows after an evening out or a special occasion. First things first. Sterilize all beauty tools before using them.

Brush your thick eyebrows upwards until you can see the longer hairs. To avoid the bushy and messy look, trim the long hair using scissors. Do this step very carefully and only cut the front and center. Avoid trimming the tail part of the eyebrows.

The next step is to fill in the sparse areas using a pencil so you can decide your shape and know which spots to avoid when plucking. Now brush it naturally this time. Using the tweezers, remove any hairs that are out of the way of your defined eyebrow shape. Carefully and gently, clean up extra hairs around using a razor.

Eyeliner pencil

Bacteria and dirt tend to find their way and pile up on your eyeliner pencil. Every time you use it, these bacteria get inside your eyes and can potentially cause infection. Although the indicator on the eyeliner tells us when it expires, until then, we need to clean it properly.

The simplest and the best way to keep your eyeliner pencil clean is to sharpen them after or before each use. That way, you are not reusing it. Do not remove many layers, as this can be a waste. Instead, just a few quick twists with your sharpener would do the trick. Keep it tightly closed immediately after each sharpening.

If your eyeliner pencil is retractable, pour some rubbing vodka or alcohol into a small palette and keep the eyeliner tip dipped into the solution for about a minute. Finally, gently wipe or air dry the eyeliner with a clean tissue or a microfiber cloth. You can repeat this as much as you want.

Eye shadow

People who wear eyeshadow often wonder how to clean it. After all, it is easy to ignore this accessory in your makeup kit. Some people do not see the necessity of cleaning this eye product. However, it is rather important to keep it nice and clean. Here is how you can clean eyeshadow in a few minutes.

Eyeshadows are makeup products that are simple to clean. All you need to do is just grab a small knife and scrap it off from the top. Dust it off, and there you have a clean layer of eye shadow.

Mascara

There are some eye makeup products you absolutely cannot clean. They are meant to be thrown out, especially if you have been using them for a very long time. The most critical eye makeup product we are talking about here is mascara. Cleaning the wand to keep it longer can only give access to more germs. Besides, manufacturers do not make mascaras to last for years. The best thing is to let it go.
