After a long day of hard work, whether it be in an office or at home, we all need to feel better about ourselves. This is especially true if you have an event and are looking to feel fabulous, there are some rituals we sometimes go through to get that done. Nowadays, there are a number of ways that can help us rejuvenate and replenish our skin and bodies, which in turn will do wonders for our confidence. Just taking a day off to relax at home can be enough in some cases, but sometimes we need to go that extra mile.
Below are some modern tips and tricks that are bound to make you feel good at any time.
1. Go to a spa
We are often too tired or busy after a long hard day at work or if we have an event coming up, to go about the tasks that will help us feel good. Going to a medical spa is a great option since they can take care of everything- starting from facials, like vampire facials, to micro needling and fat freezing. There are cities that really go all out with this. Residents in LA can look up a Los Angeles medical spa to find offers on all the latest services, such as CoolSculpting, PRP Treatments, injectable fillers, and much more.
2. Always cleanse your face and body
We have all heard about exfoliating and the pros and cons of it. Too much of it will harm your face and body, and too little, well, does not do much good either. Cleansing your face can come in all different forms. The first step though is to wash your face with warm water. The warm water opens up the pores and helps get the gunk out. Then you can use a gentle exfoliator, or a harsher one, depending on the use. Those who do use a harsher exfoliator should first check if they have sensitive skin or not, and in either case, it should not be used more than once a month. Your safer bet is to go for a gentle exfoliator you can use about once a week, or after a long night with makeup on. After you have washed up, not just your face, but your body as well, wash both with cold water to close the pores again. Now “closing pores” does not necessarily mean that it will literally close them, but cold water does shrink pores so when you use a toner next, it will still get into your skin and do its job.
3. Moisturize!
This is a super important step. Moisturizing can also come in different forms. You can use a moisturizing mask, a lotion, or a heavy cream. Either way, it should not be used sparingly. Depending on the type of skin you have, oily, dry, or a mixture, you should opt for a moisturizer that suits you. A buttery cream will not be helpful for oily skin, nor will an oil-free one is being helpful for dry skin. For people who have a combination of skin types, which usually means that the T Zone is oily (the part in the center of your forehead, the nose area, and the chin), and the rest of the face is normal or dry, there are special moisturizers available which work wonders. Not knowing about your skin type can actually cause more damage than good, and cause dry skin or breakouts.
4. Hair masks and oils
Sometimes we feel great in our skin, health and shape-wise. We look fabulous in our clothes, our skin is glowing, but there is still one piece missing. Our hair! You might not believe this, but taking care of the health and vitality of our hair definitely makes us feel fabulous. Sometimes just having taken care of our luscious locks alone makes us feel great. So, do not be afraid to use oils and hair masks once a week. There is a plethora of different types that can be used depending on porosity and thickness.
5. 80/20 rule
You may have heard the 80/20 rule – especially when it comes to dieting. Now you can also apply the rule to your life in general. You do not have to look like you are about to go to prom all the time. Sometimes, we just want to lay back and relax and not have to worry about all that. However, when we feel good on the outside, we feel good on the inside, which is why applying the 80/20 rule in this case would be helpful. One factor you need to keep in mind is gut health. Filling our bodies with harmful sugars and foods in general can make us feel bloated and uncomfortable, since our bodies were not designed for the kinds of processed food we consume almost every day. Try to go at least 80/20 with the food you eat, 80 being mostly healthy food. Healthy food does not come in the shape of a salad only; there are many combinations out there that are proven to make us and our guts genuinely feel good. Which means we’ll look good, too!
6. Drink water
The best, and the age-old, is left for the end. This is not as modern as the rest are, we all know how important it is to drink water. But it really has to be reiterated every now and again because more often than not we seem to forget its importance! Without going into the endless advantages of drinking plenty of water, just look into how much would be needed for your body mass. Just do it, it’s good for you, we promise.
In the Eye of the Beholder
Feeling good about ourselves may seem shallow to some, but it is actually way more detrimental than you may think. When we don’t feel good about ourselves, we can treat others poorly, not perform as well at work or school or even with doing things at home, and most importantly, it makes our self-confidence decrease incrementally. Just opt for doing some of these tips at least once a month, and you will be feeling better in no time.
