Batched 50/50 Martini
Martinis often spark spirited debates that grow in fervor with each martini consumed. Gin or vodka? Shaken or stirred? How dirty should it be? Olives, a lemon twist, or both? With this batched recipe, we take the liberty of making the most significant decisions for you: Gin, the chosen spirit, is harmoniously matched with vermouth in equal proportions. This balance lets you and your guests pour to your heart's content. After that, it's up to the individual drinker to customize with their preferred level of "dirtiness" and garnishes.
- Combine the gin, vermouth, and water in a measuring cup with a spout, a pitcher, or a medium-sized bowl. Pour this martini mixture into a 750-milliliter bottle using a funnel if necessary, seal it, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 2 weeks. (Alternatively, you can freeze the 50/50 martini for several hours before serving.)
- When ready to serve, pour 3¾ ounces into a coupe glass and serve immediately. Offer a variety of garnishes for guests, allowing each person to tailor their martini to their liking.
