Ways to Deal WIth Daily Anxiety
There are things you can do when you feel yourself start to let stress manifest into worry and anxiety. As you start to get anxious your body gives you signs. You will start to tighten in certain places and you may even have a tick that you will begin to notice. Luckily there are things that you can do to allow you to release some of that tension.
- Lossen Your Jaw
Yes, it is that simple as we get anxious we naturally clench our jaws. As soon as you feel yourself starting to feel anxious or worried. Just release your jaw and let your mouth open slightly. This will naturally release tension and you will instantly feel better. Doing this will make you more aware of what is going on and you should be able to calm yourself and work through what is bothering you.
- The 3-3-3 Rule
When you become anxious it can sometimes feel like you can not get your brain to calm down. This can be very scary and it is very important to ground yourself and bring yourself back to reality. The 3-3-3 rule is a great way to do just that. When you start to panic look around the room and find 3 things you can see. Then say them out loud. Then find three sounds you can hear and say out loud what those are. The last thing is to think of three body parts you can move and then move them. When this is over you should be back in control of yourself
- Take Deep Breaths
Take deep breaths in your nose and out your mouth. Concentrate on your breathing and your stomach rising and falling. Think of nothing but your breathing this should help to soothe your anxiety.
- Take a Relaxing Bath
Next time you feel your anxiety starting to climb take some time for yourself and take a relaxing bath. If you have candles light them and turn off the overhead lights. Also, invest in bath bombs or bath salts infused with lavender. The aromatherapy of the lavender will make you feel so much better.
- Talk to Someone
This may sound simple but we can often forget to share the load we carry with others. When you feel stressed or anxious let someone know. Tell them what and let them help you talk it out. They may see a solution that you did not see and they may be able to assure you everything will be ok.
Now that you are aware of a few quick ways to deal with anxiety. Keep in mind that if you do have prolonged anxiety you should seek help from a professional. Remember when you feel your anxiety starting to release your jaw, think about your breathing, and use the 3-3-3 rule. Remember everyone suffers from stress and anxiety and you are not weak for feeling the weight of the load you carry. Always reach out to others and talk when you are feeling stressed do not try and making through on your own. If you remember that you will be feeling better in no time.
