Many of us on the daily grind would love to give more to those in need.
So it’s humbling to see NBA player Taj Gibson, who has been blessed with talent and good fortune, help a family going through the unimaginable.
21-year-old Chynna Battle was one of two women tragically killed in a Brooklyn-area shooting earlier this month.
She sadly left behind her three-year-old daughter Amelia.
Battle’s grieving family set up a GoFundMe page to help take care of her baby girl.
Generous donors have raised over $25,000 of its $30,000 goal.
But the majority of the money has come from a $20,000 donation from Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taj Gibson.
Gibson himself is a Brooklyn native and has family still living there.
He faced his own personal tragedy in 2014 when his six-year-old cousin, Prince Joshua Avitto was stabbed to death in an elevator.
Battle and 29-year-old Shaqwanda Staley were killed when two unidentified gunmen opened fire.
Battle and Staley were standing with a group of people in the courtyard of the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on July 12.
Battle was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the head. Staley died at an area hospital after being shot three times in the back.
May they both rest in peace.
